While 2015 was one of the hottest and driest summers on record, Garnacha grapes thrive under these punishing conditions that normally weaken other grapes. A long, hot summer will lead to healthy, ripe, and strong Garnacha grapes, creating an exceptional vintage.
Garnacha grapes are handpicked and harvested in late-September through mid-October. Though it is one of the last grapes to be harvested, it works in favor of the wine: the grapes ripen to perfection in the dry Mediterranean terroir. Sugar level reaches a proper balancing point with the acidity and tannin of the grapes, leading to some very delectable wines that are perfect for any season of the year.
